Hiya! my name is Kenton– an aspiring inventor :)
With a background in physics for biomedical sensing and AI, my mission is to use science and technology to create a healthier, smarter, safer and happier world.
I am passionate about sharing the joy of learning and being curious about whatever that draws you in, and to be brave & courageous whilst doing it.
A little timeline!
2025- present: I am a PhD student at the University of Cambridge in October, where I am fully supported by an EPSRC studentship. Themes: generative models, inverse problems, imaging and biomedical sensing. I will also be joining the King’s E-Lab residential program.
2025: I was a part-time Surgical Vision Engineer at EnAcuity, a spinout of Imperial College London providing functional insight to surgeons during laparoscopy, and visiting summer research student at the University of Oxford helping with timelapse microscopic image analysis for immunology research.
2023-2025: Previously, I had worked for Living Optics, a hyperspectral computer vision and hardware spinout of the University of Oxford as a Computer Vision Applications Engineer. Even as the youngest employee, I was entrusted to represent the company at international conferences and trade shows (my favourite was chilly but cosy Helsinki in the winter).
2019-2023: I graduated with an MSci in Physics from Imperial College London, where I worked within the biophotonics group and developed a computational imaging microscope for developmental biology, and also won the David Smith Prize for excellence in medical imaging and radiotherapy. I was also chair of the Imperial Data Science Society organising hackathons and delivering ML lectures. I also managed an internship in TTP and ManholeMetrics and contributed to projects in computer vision, medical devices, bioinstrumentation and data pipelines during my degree. I was generously supported by the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.
I want to make social media a place for learning. Check out some posts from my science page!
My personal scientific communications page, where I share some work/ study tips, memes, and recent innovations has garnered 1800+ followers and over 1.4 M views. I want to encourage curiosity and show that it’s not hard to get started in new fields. I am open to partnerships and collaborations. Please feel free to contact me via email (me [at] kentonk [dot] com).
